About Iyaz

My journey didn't start with a vision board or a grand plan. It started on the floor of a hotel lobby, learning what it truly means to serve people — and discovering that service, done with intention, is one of the most powerful forces for personal and organizational growth.

Over more than two decades in the hospitality industry, I held roles across operations, people development, and executive leadership. I managed teams through economic downturns, organizational restructures, and the unprecedented disruption of a global pandemic. Each challenge taught me something essential: the people who thrive long-term are not those who avoid difficulty — they're those who grow through it.

It was during one of those difficult periods that the concept of being "unretirable" first took shape. I watched colleagues — talented, experienced professionals — disengage from their work, counting down the days to retirement as if life only began after a career ended. I saw the opposite too: leaders who were so energized by their purpose that the idea of stepping away felt inconceivable, not because they were workaholics, but because they had built something deeply meaningful.

That contrast became my mission. I launched The Unretirable Podcast to explore what separates those two groups — the conversations, stories, and frameworks behind living a purposeful, fully-engaged life. What started as a passion project grew into a community of thousands of listeners across more than 40 countries.

Today I work with individuals and organizations as a keynote speaker and growth mindset advocate, helping people break through the invisible ceilings they've built for themselves and discover what they're truly capable of. Whether on a stage in front of 2,000 people or in a one-on-one discovery call, my goal is always the same: leave you more capable of becoming the person you were meant to be.
